admiral uniform

I would like some input as to the metal decorations around the colar on this uniform. They are not embroidered as usually found on parade uniforms. Has anyone ever seen this? Is this a uniform that was not completed? In the pocket is the makers mark which seems to be real.

thanks for any help,

Larry

It could be an officer jacket with added shoulder boards but I am not a specialist for uniforms...
Do you have any scan of the stripes on the sleeves? or at least better pictures?

Here are some pictures of the rank and button. The rest of the uniform looks correct except for the collar.

thanks,

Larry

How many horizontal rows of buttons does it have? Three of four?

If it is three, it is an officers jacket. Is it four, then it is an admiral.

Hi Larry,

the tunic looks good; maybe 1960 or so (partially a guess). Not the first I have seen with metal collar devices, but maybe the 2nd or 3rd, so rare for collectors. The pattern is ok, they do not seem to be from an officer. Seems to be a nice tunic. Buttons look good, but i can't count the ribbons with the size photo. Cuff ranking looks good.

Thanks Doug,

There are 7 ribbons on each side of the emblem and the buttons have 67 or 68 on the back of each. Why did it have the metal rather than embroidery?

thanks,

Larry

tunic

hi larry,

so its a nice late 1960's Admiral; i would say that it was just a style choice; if it were standard I would guess we would have seen more of them in the past 10 years. it might be more than that, its more an educated guess.

Its a nice tunic though.
