Here is the first picture.
And an overview of the set... I love the carmine on the riding trousers and hat. Last edited by CtahhR; 04-04-2012 at 03:05 PM. |

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
I love those uniforms.
I thought we were talking about a m69 uniform. But the cap has a cockade that was used mid to late 60's as parade version. It could be an earlier parade set. Are there any date's on the back of the buttons. On both jacket and cap buttons there could be a 2 digit number. Let us know.

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
Hi Ser-g,
I was able to look at the buttons. There is a number 60 on all of the uniform buttons. There are no numbers on the buttons on the visor cap. I am learning much in this thread! Thank you. Regards Paul |

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
60 stands ofcourse for 1960.
So the butons are made in 1960, the uniform made after it , mostly 2-3 years later. So its a nice early 60's uniform. They are scares and it is still complete , please dont break the set up.

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
Here is my newest medical uniform. This one is dated(on the buttons) 1958.
So how many types of Medical regulations/insignia configurations are there? What years did they take place? This awesome set comes with the jacket, shirt, medla bar, badge, tie, trousers, and hat. The tabs and band on the hat are dark green and the stripes on the shoulder boards and trousers are red. The tunic came with the medal bar and Guards Badge. I am perplexed at the absence of the Medical Academy badge. Did this tunic predate these badges or is it just possible that he went through medical school without getting one? Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
looks nice, and a nice background for the photo. There are several books which document colors of piping and hat bands over the years although some are only available in russian and others focus on a limited period, such as up to 1958

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
Thanks Jeff,
I appreciate it the input. The photo was taken by the fellow forum member I bought it from. I do not have any good books. Do you have any recommendations for books that accurately cover Soviet unforms from WW2 until 1991? Most specifically, I like early(1950s - 1970s) service uniforms (khaki) as well as uniforms that pertain to the Medical Corps. When did they start using the diamond shaped Academy badges? |

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
These are the two most useful. The red one is in english and the other entirely in russian. Not sure when rhomboidal graduation badges started but I've had a 11 republic and seen a 6 republic so at least pre-war sometime

Re: Colors used to represent the medical branch...
Thanks for the heads up on the books. I will look into them. I just took these two photos of my medical tunics together. They are definitely beautiful. All I am missing is a set from the latest design; the brick red branch color! That should be easier and less expensive to find. I have a few other stokers in the fire first! :thumbsup
Here is a nice side by side of the Carmine/Red-Green medical branch colors! They are beautiful, I think! |
