Naval Aviation Shoulderboards

Hey guys.:D

Recently I got a Naval Aviation tunic but I don`t know if the shoulderboards are in order. I couldn`t find much information about Naval Aviation uniforms, what do you guys think?

Thanks!

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

Hello,

those boards are for army senior officer shirt (with junior officer stars...). I think I have a pair of correct shoulder boards (black with blue stripes) somewhere, if you are interested.

Nice early Uniform. Those are Naval Infantry/Medical boards, right?

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

In the navy red stripes indicate: naval infantry, artillery, medical corps - and the general area of "ground units of the navy".

Btw. The badges on the right breast are not what an officer would have.

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

The shoulder boards are a royal fake.
SMALL GOLDEN stars on the golden senoir boards - please give me a brake! :-)
BTW the size is also wrong - they are way too long...
Here is the example of 1946 junior officer Naval Aviation boards.

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

There is a considerable difference between "mismatched" and "fake".

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

Wrong color/fashion boards with the wrong size and color insigna also in a very wrong size, placed onto the naval tunic for what purpose?
Sure if you say so it's a MISMATCH...

Re: Shoulderboards for Naval Aviation

Put together, authentic items are considerably different beasts to fake or reproduction items, correctly or incorrectly matched.

It is a mismatch. A "fake" is something produced to mislead. The white shoulder board with red stripe is authentic but do not belong on the tunic, so are the stars and the button but they do not belong on that shoulder board... and so on. Still, taken apart, all the pieces are authentic.

As a side note, the tunic would not be in order with the 1946 shoulder board you show anyway as the jacket is likely a more recent production. For this tunic, black shoulder board with blue stripes and large stars is correct (for a senior officer).
