Marshal of the Soviet Union and Admiral of the Fleet shoulder boards
Gents,
A 1940s MSU set of shoulder boards for your enjoyment, and a much later set of Admiral of the Fleet boards for comparison. Comments are most welcome! -achern |

Re: Marshal of the Soviet Union and Admiral of the Fleet shoulder boards
Decent size pictures, please? 469x514 pixels is way low resolution :-)

Re: Marshal of the Soviet Union and Admiral of the Fleet shoulder boards
Strange. I'm sure I put bigger files in this time. Is the forum limiting the size of these pictures?

Still tiny - this forum has a very limited pictures space. I'd suggest placing the pictures onto picture server such as photobucket etc.

software such as irfanview works real well to resize pics. I use it all the time and it is free

I agree with Doc - Irfan view is also good for scanning as well.

Re: Marshal of the Soviet Union and Admiral of the Fleet shoulder boards
Thanks for all the advice. I've linked the photos from an external host so they ought to be bigger this time. Here we go again:

Re: Marshal of the Soviet Union and Admiral of the Fleet shoulder boards
From the link provided above -
Why do I have to upload images rather than link to them? Many members wonder why we ask that they upload images rather than provide a link to them. The answer is that links eventually expire. Perhaps a member loses interest in awards and moves on, letting the FTP account expire, or perhaps they do some housecleaning on their account and delete a whole bunch of images completely forgetting an image is linked to the forum. Or perhaps they post a link to an image on another website (this is called HOTLINKING and is not allowed). Whatever reason, what will happen is that when someone views the message, if the image file is not there they will get an error message saying something similar to "ERROR FILE NOT FOUND". Thus, we want all images to be uploaded onto the forum so they will be here forever which will keep the message intact.
