Not a fantasy piece, a legit one called : Excellent MVD Firefighter. The screw nut isn't original I don't think. Is it possible to see the reverse but with the screw nut removed? Now is it an original or a fake that is for someone else to say.

Bought it for 0.99$ on eBay. I don't have it yet. I do have larger pictures, but I had to reduce them to 50k.

This is a badge that sells for more than that. But you never know, and you can't beat the price you paid for regardless. When you do receive it, would you let me know the weight and material?

Soviet,

I've seen those badges before, I believe it should have a round MM on the back and very bright enamel. I was offered those many times as restrikes.

Soviet,

Well, in numismatics a restrike is an officially authorised copy usually made with the original dies, but since the Russians had never authorised any of those copies, I believe we can safely call them fakes.

Alexei, for the purpose of my education in badges, would restrikes still have the circular mint mark as well?

Danny,

There is a bunch of restrikes, that have the mintmark, like this fire badge and space wings. As a matter of fact I don't think they differ from their official conterparts in any significant way. The only reason I believe that they are restrikes is because my suppliers tell me so and can offer them in very significant quantities. Well, come to think of it, this fire badge has a very bright enamel, similar to automotive metalic paint.
