Could I get an opinion please? Would this be a farming badge? Couldn't find this one in either Boritsov's or Avers 5. Thanks

Dannybou, i am just a stupid beginner, but i honestly think, your badge is a good one. Its exactly the same as mine down to the style of the number. And my badge came from someone, who know nothing about these badges and i got it for a few Euro. I got this one checked from some other knowledgeable Collectors and there is absolutely no problem with it.

one german dealer offer one on his homepage for 190 Euro (240 USD)
I paid for mine 10 Euro (20 DM) years ago.

Hello Alfred,

wow, thats a lot. I paid 6 Euro for mine. It was hidden in a little box with some other russian stuff and two german ribbon bars. He didn´t knew, what it is and didn´t try to get more than a few euros for it.

These badges are very pretty and i will see, if i can find some more of this kind, but not for 190 Euro :D

Just picked up an interesting agricultural badge and thought I'd share. My Russian is pretty rough, but I believe it to be for the mastery of a combine. Two piece construction (the hammer and sickle being the second piece- and I believe they are gold). Serial numbered 4379. If anyone has any better info on this, I'd appreciate knowing. Thanks.

The combine is the machine used to harvest the wheat. So, my guess is that this is a kind of otlichnik for an operator of such machine.

Yeah, sounds about right.

Upon re-examination, I find that the number is 4372. Also, the lettering (in cyrillic) at the bottom "NKZ SSSR"- I have no idea of what NKZ designates.

Here's my Master Combine Harvester. These are relatively available out there.

Along military materiel, I buy up labor badges, like anything railroad related and occasionally VDNH stuff. All the "Otlichnik" ministry badges are great too. In all, there's an infinite variety and they don't come loaded with as heavy a back story as the war awards.
