Parade Pass.
I found this beat up ticket in the pocket of a M43 general's summer ("rainbow") uniform. I believe the word in the middle is the equivalent of "VIP section" but cannot handle cursive well. Are the words and letters at the top the bearer's name? If so, what is it? It would be great if I could put a name to the tunic.

Re: General's ticket?
Jeffrey,
The pass is issued to Lapshin LF, and the word in the middle means "everywhere". Now, I don't think that you want to put this person's name on your M43 jacket, the ticket is for the 1977 parade, by which time this type of uniform was looooooong out of service. Marc |

Re: General's ticket?
Thanks for reading help.
As for someone wearing an old M43 at a 1977 parade, I believe I have seen lots of pictures of veterans wearing out of date uniforms, especially if maybe General Lapshin left the service immediately after the war and never had anything more modern issued or purchased. As an example....surely you wouldn't tell this brave warrior that his outfit went out of style in 1969 Last edited by Jeffrey Meffert; 05-02-2009 at 04:53 PM. |

Re: General's ticket?
Jeff,
We are talking about the rank of General, not some lowly private or NCO (no disrespect intended ot any of them, by the way). If anything, going along your theory, he would have had at least his Victory Parade uniform to wear... By the way, according to generals.dk, there were 2 generals named Lapshin during WW2, none of which fit the bill in terms of initials or dates. Marc Marc |

Some Generals save their parade uniforms,
Some don't.
One parades in his grays...one parades in his raincoat. On the other hand, if you have a book of generals and there is no Lapshin who was a general by 1948 (11 republic buttons) and still alive for a 1977 parade, I will yield. (If the generals.dk site is completely inclusive. Also remember, this could have been col lapshin in 1945 and promoted shortly thereafter) Last edited by Jeffrey Meffert; 05-03-2009 at 07:58 PM. |

Re: General's ticket?
There is a simple way to find out if a general called Lapshin LF was a general in 43 and who he was if indeed he existed. The archives! It's fast and inexpensive.
And I mean, I think that there is a good chance that the tunic belonged to Lapshin. NOT because he wore in in 77 but because who got it put the ticket by purpose in his pocket to ID-it. I can imagine this happening.

Re: General's ticket?
Let's remember that the M1943 tunic was used after the war as well, so he could have been a Colonel in 1943-1945 and then promoted sometime from 1945 through the late 1940's or so...difficult to nail down 100% : )
