Personal File, General-Major L.I. Gredinarenko
I bought a few years ago, a partial set of original documents (21) belonging to General-Major Leonid Ivanovitch Gredinarenko, from an Ukrainian guy here in Switzerland. He told me that this was only paper, and he wanted to sell it at any cost. I decided to take it, and forgot about it since then, because at that time, I couldn’t read Russian at all… :D
For a week, I “found” again this set, and wanted to look at it more closely. His biography is covered on the 3 first pages, and after, the other documents are about his military career (of course…). He earned an Order of Kutuzov 2nd class, an Order of Lenin, 3 Orders of the Red Banner, an order of the Patriotic war 1st class, medals, and foreign awards. Laurent,
the first sheet has the title "awtobiografia". Seems to be a biography. regards Andreas |

Andreas,
Yes, the first 3 pages are a biography signed by another Captain... because at that time (1938), Gredinarenko was only Captain. Regards Last edited by Laurent; 10-25-2005 at 03:26 AM. |

Does the paperwork say what the S/N is for the Kutuzov 2?
Rusty.

In the old days one could have bought the original file. I've seen a few full files for sale a few times.
Now days you can only get the xeroxed copies of what you request. Rusty.

Personal File.
I've seen these recently via the web and I wonder what exactly they are?
My guess is a soldiers personel file from his local district post? It seems pretty official, not to mention complete. The seller claims 29 pages. I can post more images if anyone is interested. But I wonder, this seems to be pretty 'official'; why's it for sale to decadent Capitolists and not in a military archive of some sort? Additionally, is this sort of file what researches use to provide their services?

Re: Private File?
Eric,
Nothing new here, these have been around for many years. They all come from Ukraine; apparently, they did not care safegarding these after 1991. Fortunately, the central archive in Podolsk has a duplicate of all of these. Marc |

Re: Private File?
So it's a soldier's complete, total and official file of his whole military service?
