Red Star for Margelov?
This one is for sale on eBay. It looks like a Red Star where the metal piece featuring a soldier and "Workers around the world, unite!" has been changed for a piece with general Margelov. Anyone seen this before? Fantasy piece? The Red Star itself looks good.

Probably a veteran organization badge.

Re: Red Star for Margelov?
I've seen this one for a while on eBay, and another very similar as well (I think). I'm sure Paul's in the right of it with the 'vet org' badge comment, and without actually handling one I'd be shocked if it's not a light alloy base with a pin-back or cheap screwback. Just another znachok, IMO.

Re: Red Star for Margelov?
Here's the medal issued by an outfit called "Kommandarm" as part of their "Commanders of Victory" series (3 so far). The enameling isn't great, but better than I've seen in most comparable instances. The alloy used is heavy- definitely a cut above "znacki" quality. Don't know whether this is aimed at veterans, history students... probably anyone who wants to buy it. Comes with a doc (I know I have mine around here somewhere) that has a nice image of a painting of the General on one side.

Re: Red Star for Margelov?
There seems to be some different types of this one around, some with ribbon and some screwback. I still think though that the one I posted has a much deeper enamel than the one above.
