Re: Excellent badges II

Norm,

I'm still having problems figuring these out. Let's just say that I like the first one, and that I have some "uneasiness" about the second one.

Re: Excellent badges

I've got a nice excellent driver's badge as well that I display with my WW2 ODMs. I've attached some images for comparison.

You might notice some subtle differences: front axle, front fender, windscreen, and a small, inverted V in the wreath at 12 o'clock above the white enamel circle.

I take all these differences as variations from different dies used by different manufacturers in different eras.

The discussion about this badge appears here: http://www.soviet-awards.com/forum/s...html#post62383

Igor has (or had) some nice images of Otlichnik badges for reference, and I think the Mondvor site has some as well.

edit: BTW, I like to think mine is from WW2 era although I can't remember why I decided that was the case.

Re: Excellent badges

Norm,

For whatever reason, I don't like your Truck Driver's badge very much: screwpost, solder, enamel, details (or lack thereof) in the H&S, truck etc.

Once again, not my area of highest competency, but personally, I'd give this one a miss.

Re: Fake WWII Otlichnik Badges

Hello,

I`ve purchased this one quite some time ago, but I don`t know much about how to recognize a good one, because I usually do collect soviet orders and medals... is it genuine, or a fake ?

Jens,

I think that it is :thumbsdown
The screwpost attachment is apparently not what it should be.
