For Combat Merits,1465148,Riveter,14th Air Army
Hello and thanks for looking at my posting.
I am writing to see if the members of the Forum might be able to identify the following group that was all found together in a small box. I know the two medals are Victory over Germany and Combat Service. My question is: What is everything else and does it all belong together? Thanks so much Mark

Re: ID request for WWII Russian Docs and Medals Group
The two docs whose frontal pages You have shown (Military ID and Medal Booklet) did belong to the same person - Viktor Konstantinovich Krashannikov born in 1907. To say something about the Red Army Booklet, I would have to see the first two pages, but the date of birth fits.
To say something about the awards belonging to the group, I would have to see other pages of the Military ID, Award Booklet and Red Army Booklet. The 2 photographs don't seem to fit - they show an officer (major I think) whose career started before 1943 and who was wounded during the war few times. The man doesn't look too similar to the one in the Military ID, and an officer would most likely NOT have a Red Army Booklet. Is there anything written on the back of that photographs? |

All the paper items have the same name, Krashennikov, so I would assume they all may be related.

Re: ID request for WWII Russian Docs and Medals Group
The two booklets on the left are military IDs (one partially in Latvian) and the red booklet goes with his Combat Merit Medal. The award citation can be found here: Общедоступный электронный банк документов 'Подвиг народа'
He was a duralumin riveter in an aircraft workshop of the 14th Air Army. The award document for his Victory over Germany Medal is apparently missing. He was an NCO, so the two separate photos are probably not his. |

Gentleman
I thank you for responding to my request and for providing me with such details. As for the two photos, well they were with the box. I agree the two don't look like the one in the book but I think the two photos go together as they look like the same man, just years apart. Would there be anything else in his documents that might shed light on his military career? Just let me know which pages you need and I will take photos. Wish I could understand Russian so that I could make hears/tails of his Citations for the CSM The following posting will be scans of his book with the Star on it Thanks

Re: For Combat Merits,1465148,Riveter,14th Air Army
The second entry on this page documents the aforementioned Combat Service Medal awarded November 25th, 1944. What is the full seven digit serial number on the reverse of that medal? I can only make out 146514_.
