Nice! I've been meaning to grab a bar or two just for the sake of having them.
Yours are particularly nice examples.

Ribbon identification help

I would be grateful if someone could help identify the last ribbon on this nice bar that I picked up recently. It consists of an Order of Lenin, Red Banner, 2nd Class Order of Kutuzov, 2 Red Stars, Military Service Medal, Defense of Stalingrad Medal, etc. however I cannot ID the last one (purple with three red stripes) which I believe to be a communist bloc award.
Any ideas ??

Regards,

Paul

I want to say off the top of my head without any references handy that it is Polish. Just an educated swagger, but my memory has been known to fail...

Ribbon identification help

I checked the Polish Ribbon chart. It looks similar to the Brotherhood in Arms Decoration. I'm not used to seeing the "white" stripes applied over the ribbon. Maybe this one was specially made by the recipient.

Best,

Yeah, the Brotherhood in Arms was the one I was thinking of, but I think it's actually called something else like Grunwald medal - again, going off memory.

I don't see anything unusual with the customization.

Ribbon color variations

As I was getting ready to mount my new CSM I noticed the center stripe was different than the other two CSMs I have.
So here are the three, with a DLM for comparison.
Do you think the color difference is due to fading or just a color variation in later manufacturing materials?
I notice the two CSM ribbon bar ribbons are not quite the same as well.

Lower right (left image) has wrong ribbon...

I'd say you have a DL ribbon on a CSM for the one on the lower right of the left image (or lower left of right, reversed image).

I've seen quite a few that were so faded you could hardly tell the CSM from the DL. Usually if I peel back the ribbon a bit to view the portion not exposed to the elements for so many years, I'll see a different, less faded set of colors that usually tells the truth of what the ribbon actually is.

Re: Ribbon mystery....

Sure thing... for the common interest, here is the full list.

Order of Glory Ist, IInd and III class
100th anniversary Lenins birth, Defense of Moscow, Victory over Germany
20th, 30th anniversary of the Victory over Germany, Veteran Serviceman
Veteran of Labor, 30th anniversary Soviet army and navy, 40th anniversary SAF
50th, 60th anniversary SAF, 20 years irreproachable service
15 years irreproachable service, badge 25th anniversary of the victory

The last one is a foreign ribbon, possibly some artistic interpretation of a Yugoslav (perhaps "30 Years of Victory over Fascism") or Czechoslovak medal
(Czechoslovak War Cross) . Unlike the cloth ribbons, these were made from thin plastic or paper and I guess it wasn't always that easy, especially on remote locations, to find the exact ribbons for foreign decorations.
