Short, concrete description of personal combat feat or merits:

The 94th Guards Mortar Regiment under command of Guards Lieutenant Colonel Palgov occupied combat formations.

Due to the well organized reconnaissance, enemy resistance pockets were detected, that during the preparatory artillery bombardments were suppressed by barrages of the battalions. Units of the 26th Guards Rifle Corps broke through the deep enemy defense lines and pushed forward. At 11:30 on 14 January 1945, the enemy tried to stop the advancing infantry at the border of the Boska bend [?] [?]. With barrages of the battalions, comrade Palgov suppressed an enemy artillery battery and scattered and partially destroyed up to two infantry platoons. Without encountering resistance, our units went to the Pilica River, whose crossing (near Biała Góra) the Germans tried to hold off, but comrade Palgov accomplished a quick manoeuvre with two M-13 battalions and carried out two consecutive barrages. The fire of the battalions destroyed and suppressed two artillery batteries and up to three enemy infantry platoons.

On 15 January 1945, [?] [?] [?] comrade Palgov, while in the combat formations, carried out a barrage with a battalion at a resistance pocket near Kielce, after which units of the 26th Guards Rifle Corps without losses pushed forward. Comrade Palgov, the entire time located in the combat formations of the infantry, exemplarily organized the communication and interaction with the units of the 26th Guards Rifle Corps. Performing a quick manoeuvre, he guaranteed the succesful offensive of the infantry. Displaying skill and courage in combat, excellently guiding the fire of the battalions, figuring out the enemy plans in a timely manner, and destroying the enemy's manpower and vehicles with artillery fire, the regiment renders the units of the corps great assistance.

For exemplarily guiding the fire of the battalions during the enemy defense line breakthrough and the skilful leadership during offensive fighting and for displayed courage and skilful manoeuvring during the crossing of the Pilica River, comrade Palgov deserves the state award "Order of the Red Banner".

Now that's what I call award history! What an amazing piece to have that much of a story behind it - not only about the awards, but about the person as well.:thumbsup

Re: Red Banner,Southern Poland,209832

Palgov joined the army on 12 December 1934, serving as a Private. Since 1 November 1936 he studied at the Krasnodar Artillery School, where he graduated on 1 June 1938. After his graduation he was promoted to Lieutenant, later to Senior Lieutenant, on 24 June 1942 to Captain, on 2 December 1942 to Major and on 17 August 1944 to Lieutenant Colonel. Not a bad career!

This is him as a cadet at the Krasnodar Artillery School (KAU):
