Central Executive Committee Of Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic Badge.
Attached are photos from a recent internet auction on "that auction site."
The badge sold for $2242. Lower than some recent but it was un-numbered. A member forwarded a message to me about it. I have a couple numbered badges, which are without mint mark or other manufacturer mark. I said that I thought it could be candidate. Candidate went out in 1929. The badge looks good. Rays match Mekhonoshin 2.1.2 (even rays) under field only. You cannot tell really from the picture but the reason the first RS (PC) are darker is because the badge is thicker there creating a wave effect. That also looks as it should. In addition if you look closely the canton (rectangle with the legend RSFSR) is not "rayed" which is as it should be. The final, cross-over, RS look like they should or have on other badges that I have seen. The only concern was the new nut, like Supreme Soviet, which could be a later replacement but which I have seen on USSR TsIK. I will separately post a photo of an RSFSR badge (obverse/reverse) including special shape nut allegedly from the 1935 convocation so you can judge for yourselves, but except for the nut they look good to me. |

Numbered TsIK
Attached are two scans (obverse and reverse) of a numbered badge from the RSFSR. The badge is without hallmark/mintmark or other makers ID. But this badge had a number and a unique screw nut. As I said the previous badge looks good, and might have a replacement nut or might be a different convocation. You decide.

Aharim,
I saw it and was even going to bid a cool $2K on it, hoping that they would not notice it. Well, they did ... :( Alexei |

Bids are held secret over $200 now but I may have been the protective bidder at 100 - 500 whose name appears to be A***
As US politicians are known to state "I cannot now recall." But under today's market, I think it is/was good - met the tests noted in previous posts, and $2K is apparently where the market is based on strength of the market and Mekhonoshin with discounting for lack of number. But that could be a good thing if you are filling a political group! I was busy the day it closed - no really - and when I came back, I would have been another under bidder probably also at $2k. Congrats! to the winner. A. |

Not a TsIK badge but . . .
I am not certain what this is, but this looks like a good place to ask the question:
The attachment is a “flag badge” from the early years of the Russian SFSR. The flag was adopted by the Central Executive Committee May 20, 1918, before the adoption of the constitution. In 1920 it was adopted, changed to be, the War Flag. There is significant discussion on Flags of the World about its official time in use whether to 1937 or 1954 and in what capacity. Are Russian members here familiar with this? Link to Flags of the World RSFSR historical flags page: Soviet Russia (1917-1923) and early flags of Russia in the Soviet Union (1923-1954) The Badge here however appears to be very early. I have seen this twice, once in Europe and once in the US. One badge had a screw plate with the name of a Polish engraver, which should not be found in Russia after 1920, with the Russo-Polish war and all. It is not believed to be a TsIK badge, no legend. But what was it? Any ideas or guesses? A. |

Re: Central Executive Committee of Russian Soviet Federal Socialist Republic
I may be mistaken, but I thought these badges all had the early MMD mint mark on the reverse.

ZaStalina,
IMHO, this is a fake. Originals at that time were using non-metric threads. Here is an example for comparison purposes. Marc |
