Cheka Cap
Here is a nice example of a circa 1920s Cheka-OGPU (or political commissar) cap. Good shape for its age, but does show some water damage/wear.
Sometimes these caps, which look like leather, were black cloth mixed with leather parts. I am told that was common for Cheka guys to mix the cloth and leather caps, often using civilian caps with the badge added. The badges were either the hammer/plow (often very crudely made with hand painted backing) or the fat early star with hammer and sickle. DD |

Great hat, Doug!
Can you show a close up of the star?

Leather Hat
Jeff, I would not worry too much about the badge...It looks to be a typical 1922 model star. The hat is in rough shape, but it is nice one nevertheless. Thanks for posting it Doug.
