This one should be sold as a reproduction.

Re: Excellent RKKA Serviceman
It would seem good, even if the incision seems to be very fresh.
Perhaps it is better to wait the opinion of Marc... Last edited by marsino; 08-11-2012 at 05:26 PM. |

Re: Excellent RKKA Serviceman
These were typically not numbered. I definitely don't like #1 and #2 is at least in the style of the day, but no telling whether original or not in light of these badges not being officially numbered at the mint.

Re: Excellent RKKA Serviceman
In my oppinion the badge in post 2 is good.
There are 4 different badges of this type. 1. - reverse flatback with number (see post 1 and 2) 2. - reverse flatback without number 3. - counter-relief reverse with number 4. - counter-relief reverse without number In total around ~ 149.000 pieces were made by Leningrad mint. Paul, are you sure that these badges were not numbered by the mint? Are they numbered by the military units who gave them out? As the writing style of these badges is always the same I think they were numbered by mint personel. best regards Andreas |

I do not see the two number styles in #1 and #2 as the "same" - badges, yes, numbering no. Since there are unnumbered badges, a reverse (counter-relief) that did not readily permit numbering, and a comparitively small issue of pieces (140K) I've drawn the conclusion, that the numbering, even if "offiically" done, was not done at the mint. |

Re: Excellent RKKA Serviceman
Guys,
Although not my cup of tea, I tend to like both of these badges. The early versions were indeed numbered in the style shown. There is (used to be?) a site dedicated to all the variations of this badge (in Russian), but I can't find it at this time (Andreas, there are many more variations than the 4 you mention...). I'll post the link when I find it. Marc |

Marc, do you mean this webside: ww.znakisssr.h15.ru (Sniper_RKKA collection) It is deleted for a longer time. He mentioned 5 different variations. 2 different counter-relief reverse without number. best regards Andreas |

Re: Excellent RKKA Serviceman
Hi,
In each type of badge, there are different variations. The numbering of the badge No. 20031 seems consistent. For the second badge, No. 25043, should have a photo of the face. I noticed that over the years is that we meet more and more Excellent RKKA Serviceman badge with a number ..... When looking at the documents for awarding this badge, it is not said that the number of degree, is the badge number. Regards. Philippe |
