Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

Always fun to ID such misterious caps.. some thoughts:
1) I checked and from what I see suvorov school always had the white stripes
2) prison guards would be under the mvd or something similar so I guess they had their caps, at least I think :)
3) too bad there is no writings left on the diamon (maybe it is just the photo).. Often I got to ID caps by googling the writing on the diamons.. (especially for such "rare" caps, which maybe were manifactured only in 1 factory)

Cheers
Marco

Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

The only reason I am saying prison guards is because of the GDR's prison guards hats, black with red band and piping.
Although I am probably wrong.
I read somewhere that it may very well be possible that it is an officer candidate student hat perhaps? Something along those lines maybe?

Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

I guess we have to find some one with good Russian sources to:

1. confirm if there was a different cap for officer candidates students.
2. maybe he knows if this cap is one of those, if not what than ?

Some one mentioned that it would take time but in the end it would be named, as this is the best forum around on this mather.
Even so if it is a put together cap it may never be identified.

It sure doesn't look put to gather to me, maybe the badge is wrong.
But the most of it looks well and good constructed.

What comes to mind, is it a try-out cap ?
In the beginning of the 90ies there was supposed to be a concept.
Was there maybe such a concept progress that they made a few as prototype?

for 1) here is your source:

:thumbsup

As far as the cap.. I guess we should just analyze the cap itself.. the badges of course could be added anytime..

Cheers,
Marco :thumbsup

Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

My russian is not amazing as well, but from what I see in the source I posted, there is no mention of a dirrenent cap and no mention of red piping only white one, of course I could have missed something.
However, just looking at the photos which are supposed to show the variations... we see no red piping.

Cheers! :thumbsup

Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

indeed true ,,

so now we are sure it is not a suvorov cap, not m69 and not an after 91 production.

so what the heck is it ,, i cant stand it.
this is the first cap i have that took so long to be identified.
there must be some one who knows , or knows how to find out what it is for.

Re: What is this for kinda cap ?

Heck, There were many uniformed services in the SU and probably even more in early 90's.
However, red colour was ussualy reserved only for the military and militia. My guess:

1.Wrongly made or prototype Suvorov cadet
2.Prototype militia that was never issued. Mind You, GAI wore black leather coats and jackets on some ocasions.
3.Special purpose militia of some sort from early 90's
