Dejan,

Thanks.

Just looked at my 1st class last night - according to you - I have 1st class tombak with 6 torches.

I understand this is the latest variation?

Best,
William

Mike,

If you look at the pictures of those Yugo awards posted above or other pictures of these awards posted in other threads on the Forum, you'll notice that on the crest there are torches, right?
Well, some have 5 of these, others have 6 of them, that's the difference. Both correspond to different types and/or variations, different periods...

Hope it helps.

Mike,

Here we go:

In 1946 the Federative People's Republic of Yugoslavia (Federativna Narodna Republika Jugoslavija) was created with 5 major nations and lasted until 1963. Kosovo was not treated as a seperate entity.

In 1963 the name of the state was changed to Socialist Federative Republic of Yugoslavia, just as all the people's republics forming it were renamed Socialist republics. Mainly due to the question of the Bosnian Muslims not being represented in the five torches representing the five Yugoslav nations, the number of the torches was increased to six, with a new meaning, which was the number of the constituent republics.

Attached are the 2 crests:

Rusty.

These 3 Classes sold for $800 on eBay this week. That was the reserved price from the seller. Is it what we should expect to pay for such awards?

No,it´s definitely to much! You shouldn´t pay more than 200 Euro for a Grand Star. That´s what they usually cost on auctions in Europe.
