Re: S/N question OPW
Next question.
What is the difference between the Trench, 1st run, without mintmark, and the Trench, 2nd run, without mintmark. Is hit only the S/N ? Marc |

Re: S/N question OPW
Quote:
V2.1: Moscow Mint, s/n 74391-76500 V2.2: Leningrad Mint, s/n 110913-130324 V2.3: Moscow Mint, s/n 170055-180451 Indeed, there's no descriptive difference given except for s/n range. The MONDVOR site identifies three types as well: MMD V2.1 (Moscow), s/n 74681 - 76500 LMD V2 (Leningrad), s/n 110448 - 308963 (!) MMD V2.2 (Moscow), s/n 170052 - 180451 MONDVOR mentions that there is a difference in size and 'style' of serial number engraving between the MMD and LMD production. There is also supposedly a 1mm difference in some of the trench dimensions, but that appears anecdotal, without a large number of samples to determine if it's consistent. There's also a huge difference in the high end of the s/n range for LMD; the example they show is 1950s or 60s production, with a trench and mint mark. That doesn't really contradict the other site IMO; all the wartime production shown appears consistent - trench, range, no mint mark. IMO the later should be a different 'type,' or better just an acknowledged anomaly until more than a few are identified.

Re: Order Of The Patriotic War
It is a 1st class Type 3, issued in 1985 to surviving veterans. Original and authentic.
