Fake Boxes For Soviet Awards.

Okay, not really a paper item, but I don't know where else to put this topic. Moderators, feel free to move it.

I've never handled one of these, so my question is: is this box original? What is it worth?

Re: Order of Lenin box

Auke,

forget this box immediately :thumbsdown !
This is souvenir made box, produced in the United States.
If you search in this forum you will find this box -and the discussion about it- a few times.

Here are original Lenin boxes. They are very ceap made, compared with the award.

regards
Andreas

Re: Order of Lenin box

As far I as know, they came in the regular red orders/medals box. Even a VL or DL would have come in that red box. You'll also often see a strip of paper across th cover of the box with a typed note of the award type and recipient's name. The only definite exception that comes to mind is the MH. The MH comes with three boxes, all of them blue (one small for the star, one regular for the small doc, and one large for the large doc).

Soviet awards were in cardboard boxes. Not funky nor sexy, just a piece of folded cardboard, The award itself was wrapped in semi-transparent paper. That is all really.

Late ones had red boxes
