Excellent badges book - Otlichnik

Revers 4 - Variations and Prices for the Red Army Excellent badges.
Evidently only 60 pages and in Russian language only but at least we have some color images to enjoy.

The last I knew, our friendly dealer in New Jersey had it. He has had it for some time. That is where I got my copy (even though I can't read the thing).

I saw this for sale, as an "e-copy", on eBay. I'd suspect this, as the many others similar to it have been previously, have been digitized for download.

As per usual with books we like. At least it's a step forward from the 'Xerox copy' look or hand-drawn black and white images that were (I hope) SOP for Russian-published Soviet badges books.
Aside from The Comprehenive Guide and the Avers gang there is little in the way of quality books for collectors. I guess physical paper books will soon be a thing of the past, more's the pity.

Re: Excellent badges book - Otlichnik

Hi Eric,

You are right about the "old" books about Soviet awards... Remember the Avers 1... ;) or even more recently the Boev small books from Kiev !

More recently, aside the Comprehensive Guide, we can mantion quality books such as the Shishkov / Muzalevsky volumes, and more recently, the Boiko books published by Mart (Kiev).

A special mention for very high quality books : those of Durov published by "Collectors Books". :thumbsup

Cheers.

Ch.
