Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

*Beginners opinion/guess*

To me it looks a bit like there is a silver/grey metal surrounding the screwpost on the reverse, kind of like solder.

Also, the rivet on the bottom of the far left side seems to be in line with the "E" of the Mint Mark, whereas on all the pictures i can see of T3 V2 Lenins (the one i think this closest resembles) the rivet is not in line with the "E" (The only time it seems to line up with the "E" is on some variations of Suspension T4's

Here is some pics to explain better what i mean.

Lenin in question.JPG

Real T3 V2.jpg

I would hazard a guess at a converted suspension piece at best.

This is just my beginners opinion though, lets wait for the experts :-).

No experts here, sorry, just more or less experienced collectors. . .

If I have any doubts about a piece, I pass, and I have a lot of doubts about this piece. . .

I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole :thumbsdown :thumbsdown :thumbsdown

The scratches and loss of patina around the serial number suggest to me that it has been played around with. I also agree that it looks converted or poorly repaired at best.

If you can get it for €10 or 20 go for it.

Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

Guys,

I've had the opportunity to look at large pictures of this order. It turns out to be genuine without a doubt, but in an awful condition.

Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

Hi,

does anybody know, where the serial number - splitpoint between "Mondvor" and "Monetnij Dwor" - variations was ?

Thank you !

Re: Fake Orders of Lenin

Jens,

There is not a clear limit between the two types. The changeover took place somewhere about 6300, but Mondvor OL are known in the 8xxx and 9xxx range.

Here is a table from Durov's book about the screwback OLs.
