Labour Union Membership Badge.

I just picked up a serial-numberd badge with "БНМАУ" across the top and "YЭ" in the center. I have not yet had a chance to photograph it, but it is brass with a pick-back and stamped serial number on the reverse. The enamel is quite nice in red, green, blue, white, and yellow.

Can anyone tell me what the abbreviation "БНМАУ YЭ" is?

Allow me to state the obvious, but it is Mongolian.

I googled the term, and Mongolian is what I came up with. Unfortunately, all links I could find seemed to have been dead from my internet connection. I suspect it's the name of a ministry (at least the БНМАУ), but the rest I don't know. It's very nicely made, and has the feel of the late 50's or 60's, but I figure the screwback makes it 60's or 70's. It's definitely nicer than the average small zhnachok, and the serial number threw me a bit. I picked it up "blind" because the price was right and the quality good.

Strangely not in Battushig's book, it is the generic Labor Union Membership Badge. Send PM if you are interested in Mongolian awards and I can send your some links.

And, yes, БНМАУ is the Бугд Найрамдах Монгол Ард Улс (usually rendered into English as the Mongolian People's Republic), b. 1924, d. 1992.
