Re: document and story about the holder woman
The only way is going through the documents and looking up the name, sometimes the campaign medals will have a code on the doc, which can allow you to look up the recipient and make sure that this document was indeed awarded to this recipient (if you have the record card)
Unless the seller shows you good proof from looking at the recipient's record card, I'd say avoid it, as almost anyone can do a look up search on the cards, you would need to file a request or through one of the researchers to obtain their record card, which, unless you own an order/medal of the recipient is usually not possible to tell you that they were awarded a campaign medal (sometimes it isn't even listed in the record card) |

Re: document and story about the holder woman
Senior Lieutenant (Medical Service) Masa Ivanovna Popolzunova (Поползунова Муза Ивановна) is listed in the archive, but alas, her Stalingrad Medal is not. This is not to say she did not receive this award. The document and medal appear genuine. Agreed, even if her Record Card is obtained this medal may not be listed. There is, however, no way of knowing if this specific medal accompanied this specific document.
All this being said, she did receive a Combat Service Medal, and she is listed in archival documents as being a Physician Specialist in the Separate Neuro-Surgical Group of a Medical Services Company, #9. She is listed on the Prikaz, #11. Surprisingly, she was initially recommended for a Red Star but was downgraded to a Combat Service Medal. |

Re: document and story about the holder woman
Here is the second page of her citation, all the way up the chain of command. The last officers, a Guards Colonel-General and a Guards Major-General, who signed off on her citation downgraded the prior recommendations for a Red Star.
