Unusual VDV dembel uniform.

I have purchased the whole uniform, but particulary interesting is the jacket: I have never seen such a remake. It's not about that cable isolation on the collar, metal letters or the badge (i think somethink like this badge was discussed on this forum before). Th thing is that the whole jkacket has been shortened! What's the purpose?

There is a button missing and the lapels are longer than normal VDV uniforms... Interesting. BTW, those metal "A" look more like cyrillic "D"s in the photo.

I think the short type of uniform was commom among these VDV troops, at least I have been told that here on the forum when talking about a similar jacket.

It's just the phoo quality. It looks like "a" in real.

So why it was so popular? make it look more "western"?
And if we are here - I have seen 2 more VDV dembel uniforms, none was shortened, but both had the collar remade in the same style. Was this something especially popular amongst paratroopers?

Style and modifications were limited to soldier's imagination. With plenty of free time at hands, dembels used to come up with odd things...

It was a common practice among Senior Sergeants to remove a button and to shorten the tunic. This only occured among Senior Sergeants, all other ranks kept their uniforms with four buttons. The Komsomol badge is not unusual either, I have photos or Air Defence troops with rocket shaped badges which have been fashioned by themselves. The hook and eye fastener at the bottom of the tunic is interesting, not seen one of them before, nor have I seen the red felt for used (although this material is very common, I have several DEMBEL photo albums which have been covered with this fabric and metal letters stuck on the top). Where they got this fabric from I do not know but it seems to have been widely available (in both red and green) to demobilising troops.

I would say that this is a typcial VDV NCO DEMBEL uniform.

How much did you pay for it?

So it's rather typical than unusual? :)
I gave 99pln, that's about 25$. For me it's a good, but reather high price.
About this fabric - I remember from "good old times" that in most of the schools message boards were covered with such material (the red one), so perhaps it was common in the USSR as well.
I am not sure if this badge was made by the soldier himself - there was a thread about similar badge here and also I have seen one for sale saeparately (without komsomolpin in center). Weren't they something like the modern russian dembel badges?
