Interesting set - official design sample of Labor Glory order 3rd class with design specifications.
Document for lab Glory 3rd cl with official seals. Text says: "Established by the Decree of the Presidim of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on Jan 18, 1974" Signature of the Secretary of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet - Georgadze. William |

Sample award - observe.
Note that award is attached to the doc by the string, I guess to prevent separation of the two. Reverse of the LabGlory - note OBRAZETS (SAMPLE) stamp instead of the serial number. Case for the Doc and the sample award. |

To continue the topic, here are some proposed designs of Labor Glory that never made it to official production.
As we all know, Labor Glory was introduced on Jan 18, 1974. However, the first design was submitted as early as 1967!!! Apparently initially Labor Glory was planned in only one class. This sample is from Goznak Muzeum. As you may noticed, the ribbon for Labor Glory is very similar to the one for October Revolution order. The reason is that designer for both awards was V.P, Zaitsev. Once the 1967 design was rejected, Zaitsev went on to work on Oct Revolution order and adopted the original ribbon pattern, which was accepted on Oct 31, 1967. Later on the work on Labor Glory resumed and numerous designs were submitted. Two main groups existed. Designs from the first group had a pentagon with the circle as central element (reminds me Miner's Glory badge). Several combinations of materials were tested - gold and oxidised silver. Second group samples are closer to the final design we know today, but final location of words "Labor Glory" and "CCCP" is not determined. More from the second wave of samples - getting closer to the final version: Finally, the samples are adopted by the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet. These documents are almost identical to the one I posted in the beginning of this thread. 3rd class sample Enjoy! William |

William,
Excellent pics !! Where did you find them ? Is there a Goznak Museum site ? I personally prefer the final design that has been agreed. Ch. |

Order of Labor Glory
I am interested in buying an Order of Labor Glory 3rd Class, Type 2 and would like to know what y'all think is a fair price. I have seen ones that are mostly in the mid-high $100s.
Cheers, Will |

Re: Order of Labor Glory
Hi Will,
I got mine for 80 bucks. I'd say that's pretty much as low as it goes. Individuals with riveted construction or low serial numbers will naturally be more expensive. -Stah |
