Polish Graduation Badges

That's hard to say. Generally it was for the officers of the automobile service - I believe for both management and technical branches. They sure learned there how the cars work and some had enginneer title. They were rather prepeared to repair and maintain cars, altough Some (few of them) would become car designers or people who improve them.

I found this photo online of a 1972 version Higher Officers School graduation badge (mechanized forces) and it struck me as curious, I've never seen this type of badge with a crowned eagle. Was this badge carried into the 3rd republic or could it be a transitional badge used only in the early '90's?

Neat badge, but I have not seen one like it before. I'm not a heavy collector of Polish awards but do have a few and none have a crowned eagle.

I see two possibilities - either it was an original PRP piece that was re-made by the officer himself or it's a transition piece from early 90's. The plastic-covered screw plate seems to indicate the latter. I have never heard of such transition badges, so it is either rare/prototype or a fantasy. On the other hand - they are not that expensive to inspire fantasy pieces makers. Also, I think that this was made by the state mint, at least the screwplate looks like their's from 90's.
