I do have it from an authoritative source that chicks do dig these. Wear one at your peril.

Something like these?

On a blazer and a Ushanka. Just a little Photoshop manipulation

Re: why would anyone make these?

The blazer has the look of a private school uniform :chuckle. And as for the Ushanka, pay careful attention when the remake of Red Dawn comes out. You just may see one like that on an extra's head in the film :D (even though I think it's supposed to be Chinese troops invading with the help of Russia. Even so, I've seen worse in low budget (i.e. no research) American films):(.

Re: why would anyone make these?

Private school is what came to mind to me as well! :D
If not anything else it kind of makes a nice little crest on a jacket.

But I also second that Red Dawn comment, I would not doubt it if that sort of stuff becomes common in that movie.
I'll bet John Milius will be spinning in his grave.
...Then again he had Soviet troops making patrols in full dress uniform...
Sorry for going off topic there.

Re: why would anyone make these?

I have one sewn to back of a backpack I sometimes check as baggage. Won't see another one like it on the airport luggage carousel.

Re: why would anyone make these?

Oh I've done the same thing! :D
I have some Russian and Soviet patches sewn onto some of my stuff, well, bags and what not anyways.
Certainly keeps track of them.

Re: why would anyone make these?

On other bags that the wife won't let me sew things onto, I've tied spare ribbons for soviet orders and medals to the handles instead of the red yarn and ribbons that most people do. Order of labor glory ribbons do stand out in the sea of black samsonite.
