Fake Medal "For Distinguished Service In The Protection Of Public Order".

I haven't seen this type of medal discussed in this thread or anywhere else on the forum (I just may have missed it). I've seen medals like this in some not-so-reliable or less-than-scholarly books. At the same time, I've been more than a little hesitant to appear foolish by posting this medal. I am apparently past that now.:)

First question: did they exist or where they purely fantasy?
And the second question may be moot depending on the answer to the first: does this one look real?

If the photos are not up to snuff to determine authenticy, yet someone confirms their existence, I'll break out the tripod and photograph it again when the sun is out tomorrow.

...and the more I see these closeups, the less inclined I am to believe it is real.:o

Oh well...so be it. The letters do not have the crisp clarity and straight lines I'm used to seeing on good medals (look at the "Д").

The rim on the outer edge doesn't seem high enough either. It is 32mm in diameter, but I don't think measurements matter here.

It's a 1992 variation of the medal.

Alexei: here are "those scans" from my ole flatbed. It main purpose is scanning documents and photos so I don't know if these will do it.

I made several copies of these so I can crop to get closer on sections you might want to see better. Just let me know.

I see why you want the high resolution after what shrinking the file does to the original.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it's a fake. When you compare it to a known original, may little details, like rays, sickle blade, etc. are off.
