Munkasor Long Service Badge.

Can anyone identify this badge, slightly bigger than a US 25-cent piece, and provide approximate value? I thank you in advance.

If interested in purchasing, send PM.

Re: What is this?

I found somethings similar on eBay: (see # 220804931835 and 320539633575 )

Hungarian Worker Guardian Badge Medal 5 Years.
it belongs to one of the most interesting parts (to me anyway) of the labor system of the Peoples Republic of Hungary. it was a badge worn by a "Munkas Őr" or "Worker Guardian". a worker guardian was a worker, who has not enlisted in the military, who trained like the military for the necessity of civil defense. during the administration of Janos Kadar, the military budget of Hungary was drastically reduced in order to raise the living standards of the citizens. millions of Hungarian workers trained with rifles, mortars, machine guns, and even artillery to support the regular military in the event of invasion. a worker guardian was a government agent that inspected working conditions in the PRH. you might say that they were similar to the USA department called OSHA, but they made more than one visit per year. M/Ő badge

This badge is a "5 Year Exemplary Service" award for a member of the Worker Guardians. it looks like a regular service badge, but the brass star is concaved and the wheat/gear ring is a different color. it is 1 1/2" by 1 1/2 and enamelled red, white, and green on heavy brass.

Re: What is this?

Eric, you nailed that one down, way more than I could/would have.

Value depends mostly on who is selling it because the Hungarian market is very much in flux. If you know the right person, it could go for $10 or less.

Re: What is this?

It may be a miniature as the seller (above) states 1.5" and Paul says about the size of a quarter which is just less than an inch.

Also, just very generally I'd guess it's an earlier issue because of the PPSh. I've seen later Hungarian badges with AK-47s on them. Just in general; not in regards to this specific badge.
