And, yes, eBay is good for copies, though they are usually sold and priced and spun as real ones. :( |

Re: Orders for a uniform
I started work on the Medal bars. It will start with a Red Banner of Labour, BoH, CS x2, Veteran of Labour and Military Service & the usual Jubillee medals. I'll add a Lenin 100th Anniversray, Medical Institute badge, 25th Anniversray of GPW badge and a Guards badge. That should do it.

Re: Orders for a uniform
Hi Doc,
It´s just my opinion, but wouldn´t it be better to add WW2 service and victory awards instead of cold war period ones, since it´s an M55?

Re: Orders for a uniform
Good to hear that, Doc. This would be my suggestion for the medal bar: ORBL, BOH, Bravery, CS, any campaign medal you choose, VoG, 30 years of Soviet AF and one foreign award that matches the campaign medal. A polish or bulgarian one would be good since they´re easier to find.

Re: Orders for a uniform
I decided that instead of breaking down a lot of single medals (especially the ORBL & BoH) to make a medal bar for this uniform I pulled medal bars off of another M55 Colonel's Parade uniform. I found holes for another 6-medal bar so this will work. The holes were barely visible but my fingers found them. I'll post pictures when it's done. Also, I don't have the regs for medal bar placement. The holes on this one are all over the place. So, Just to be sure, where do I place them (Blue or red lines) BTW After all my time here I finally made my 1,000th post with this one.

Re: Orders for a uniform
If by medal bar you mean parade mount of medals rather than a plaque with ribbons only, the diagonal placement (red line) is how you go. The double breasted parade tunic forced the horizontal bars of the M43 to go diagonal, especially as most officers, especially by 1955, had lots of brass to hang on there.
Ribbon only plaques would not be worn with a parade uniform although I think when I originally bought this beauty years ago, it came with one. Last edited by Jeffrey Meffert; 02-09-2009 at 10:55 AM. |
