Order Of Zhukov.
Look what I found. I know that most of you knew it, but I find that Zhukov does not deserve to be displayed on a....Fantasy-like (but it is not fantasy) piece! It looks like it, isn´t it?

Here is this order's description :
Order of Zhukov (Orden Zhukova) Established: May 9, 1994, by decree of president Yeltsyn (statutes from March 6, 1995) Classes: single. Star: a cross 50 x 50 mm, of four arms in the form of gold outlined red enameled gothic shields, with sets of six silver rays between them. Medallion: 24 mm of diameter, with the bust of Geoghi Zhukov en face on blue background. Above there is the semicircular inscription "Georghi Zhukov"; below a half laurel, half oak spray. Ribbon bar: 24 mm, gold yellow with a broad white-blue-red stripe, 12 mm wide in the middle. I agree : Marshal Zoukov deserves a specific and dedicated order... But, I have also to agree that this order is not designed with the quality Zhukov should have deserved. But the quality of many Russia Federation's awards is in no way to compare with the Soviet Union's ones. Ch. |

Yes! ¡That´s what I was saying! If Zhukov shall be in an award which honors him, it should be much more than this... What I mean is that the piece does not combine with the character.

Friends,
Zhukov order is not only badly designed/manufactured, it also seems to be incorrect from chronological point of view. On the center medallion Zhukov is wearing 1945 type parade uniform with 4 Hero SU Stars, which is impossible as his 4th Hero Star was given to him only in 1956. By 1956 new uniform design was implemented (1954 type, double-breasted coat). The correct portrait would be either 1945 uniform with 3 Heroes or 1954 uniform with 4 Hero Stars.:hurl Best regards, William |

yes, but Russia cut between its imperial and its soviet past needed some legend and new myths for its people...so one or two details...but you're right.

Has anyone actually held this order in their hands?
I would expect this one to be better than most current awards... Rusty.

It would be very hard. It is now an official award of Russia, and with the laws made recently... And, personally, even if I´d have the oportunity to get it, I would reject.
