I find something interesting about the pinback medal suspensions .... where is the mint mark?

This is HSL medal belonged to 3 times recipient of State prize, People's Artist, soviet Estonian composer Eugene Kapp.

When I looked up Eugen Kapp in my copy of the Estonian Soviet Encyclopedia, it said that in addition to his three State Prizes, he also had two Orders of Lenin, and three State Prizes of the Estonian Soviet Socialist Republic. I had never heard of the republics having their own state prizes to award. Each of the three ESSR state prizes was awarded shortly after his USSR state prize. Has anyone heard of these medals or seen a picture or document of one?

Do you have any photos of these Estonian state prize medals. I recently acquired an Ukraine State prize medal, and like yourself was unaware, until recently, that the republics could actually issue thier own state prize medals.

I do not have any pictures of the Estonian State Prize medals, and I have been looking in this Estonian Soviet Encyclopedia. They refer to recipients of this medal, but no pictures or anything of the medal itself. I will keep my eyes open.

I still consider the HSL rare and at a bargain price compared to some.

A great looking order, simple but striking and with a design which is just so soviet.

At 20,000 it cannot be compared to the hundreds of thousands dished out order of Lenins.

I have to admit it being given for a quota base, and pig farming at that, does tend to give it a lesser image

I totally agree with you, and many collectors are also starting to realize this, so this medal is going up fast.
