Rusty,

Interesting piece, I bet it's not a Soviet production. Still it has wear. Could it be one of those US made badges for the war games?

I don't think it is fake. Belive it or not, these cheap badges were used on DEMBEL uniforms, they are made from light metal and certainly do not feel like genuine guards badges but they have appeared on several DEMBEL uniforms that I have spotted and even have some in my own collection.

Vikingraider,

Thanks for the information. I guess it's a variation, I haven't seen. Could it be a local production?

Alexi,
Could well be local production and it certainly threw me when a freind told me he had purchased one of these. Why they produced them in this fashion I do not know as they are less flattering than the gold coloured Guards badges. I have one on a mid 1980s paratroopers DEMBEL uniform and I was wondering could it signify something? Afghan veteran or something?

On a Soviet uniform i just purchased, it has a guards badge but its a pinback, and not the usual screw post. Any thoughts on this?

thanks.
