Navy graduation badge - fake, fantasy or OK?

I need your assistance on this one, is it OK or not? It looks rather ugly, the big blob in the middle is supposed to be a large warship and a submarine... :)

Hi,

it looks ugly. I think in the lower part of the badge is something missing.
Maybe damaged enamel or rest of glue to fix a little plate.

Oh crap... Just for the fun, I can post some better pics of mine when I get back to my apt. in Sweden... Stupid enough, I bought the appearently broken one (as someone suggested, the enamel was broken and there has been a plate there)...

The academy badges are posted as genuine academy badges on a certain new jersey company that is highly respected. They also have a e-bay account. Of course there could be reproductions of the genuine badge floating around also, as the quality of the badges pictured here are poor compared to the badges that are on there sight. thanks gang

Some fantasy badges are produced to high standards. But that still does not make then genuine :cool:

There were very strong and concrete military badges sistem in Soviet Armed Forces, especially military schools graduation badges.
If you spend a little of your time to be at least acquainted with real badges you'll never pay attention to such a funny fakes.

My turn to be "pedantic," but I thought all commercial (i.e., dot.coms as I said above) were to be avoided since they invariably are biased and are selling a product which if they do not advertise or support here is giving them free advertisement - not to mention some folks just drop in surreptitiously to get people to go to their website .

All militaria sites selling soviet militaria should not have URLS posted here. This also goes for sites selling militaria in general which have content on this forum (for example Mongolian awards).

Generally speaking, unless it is a pure reference site (i.e., there is no commercial sales) it should be avoided. For several reasons which I won't open for debate (been there done that).
