RKKA/NKO "SMERSH" or trash?
I got these three documents from two different sellers a few years ago when I was just buying paper without knowing the least bit about it. Thankfully, the prices were low. Granted, both sellers were also from Ukraine, but what are the odds of finding a third part of a document set for "Boris Zhuk?"
The RKKA ID is in such good condition that no paper is crumbling and the cordboard is as stiff and undamaged as if it were made two years ago. The paper has an old book "smell" to it, but that's hardly evidence. It is dated 1938. The NKO pass is from the 193_ (i.e. not filled in). It must have been a Christmas pass since it is date December 24.:) There is a different picture from the first, but you can see it's the same person. However, it has a second stamp to the left and the vertical wrinkle in the showing that it was removed from a previous document. The third is the obligatory-looking "SMERSH" ID from 1943 (with the same photo as the RKKA document). It, like all the rest I've seen, has no "expiration" date. I'm beginning to think the two sellers were the same one operating more than one operation. Has anybody heard of a Ukrainian document dealer who goes by the name of "Roman"? I think it is an alias for the "Z" man. Ah well, what's done is done. It would be interesting if even one of these was real. Phillip

Re: RKKA?
These are 3 of 5 pages I scanned (the others had nothing written on them).

Re: RKKA/NKO "SMERSH" or trash?
The first picture is of the last pages with anything on them from the RKKA ID.
The others are of the NKO inside (sans year) and it also appears to me that the same stamp was used as the one in the RKKA document. This is also the one with the double-stamped picture that has obviously been elsewhere before it was glued here. Moreover, hsi rank and possibly the branch of service has changed (collar).

And..."SMERSH" if you are not inthe least skeptical. It's dated 1943 and the picture is allegedly from 1938 (RKKA document).

Correct me if I am wrong but any "BD" with number after it is fake.

Re: RKKA/NKO "SMERSH" or trash?
Norm, yes I think you are correct, but I've never gotten that confirmed by anyone.
What's really sad is that besides the fact that this seller(s) took advantage of a naive buyer, he's still doing it with the same type of documents and in some cases I see the same picture used all over the place - different names and all. If nothing else, he sure taught me a lot about ID documents. Mainly, to avoid him. I also see he was once a member here who is no banned - wise move.;) Phillip
