Hồ Chí Minh Communist Youth Union Membership Badge.

The Communist Youth Group is the initial introduction to doctrine and activitives for young Vietnamese.
Upon acceptance, they are issued these enamel badges together with a 16 page 3”x 4” document known as the Doan Vien. This has their personal details and record of payment of the party dues.
The Original Communist Party Youth Badge is inscribed DOAN THANH NIEN NHAN DAN CACH MANG HO CHI MINH (Peoples Revolutionary Ho Chi Minh Youth Group)
Later badges were inscribed DOAN THANH LAO DONG VIET-NAM (Vietnam Workers Party) and the current issue DOAN THANH NIEN CONG SAN HO CHI MINH (Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Group). The change was apparently made to commemorate the memory of Ho Chi Minh after his death in 1969.
The party book DOAN VIEN translates as Certificate of Group Membership and the date of it’s issue determines the price, the older it is the more valuable.
