Re: DPRK ribbon bars

Very nice group you got there CtahhR, congratulations. :thumbsup

However, with all due respect, I don´t see a good reason why to say you got it for $0 when we all know the current market -for those like me and other forum members who have to conform with the limited sources and rising prices on Ebay- is very far from that. It´s like counting money in front of the poor, and, unfortunately, that does not help in any way to our hobby. We´re not going to find a group like that for $0, that´s a fact and you and all of us know it.

I´m sorry if I sound harsh in my speech and you know I don´t mean any disrespect, but the only thing I can perceive when looking at the market during this last year is the exact opposite of what you have stated when it comes to prices and availability. Being that I think I shall let this be known to the rest of the community to see if I´m the only one who think this and if I´m wrong or not...

Regards.

Re: DPRK Ribbon Bars.

The question would be if DPRK items are so rare and high priced how do I end up with so many? and usually for cents rather than dollars with many items (dozens and dozens) such as Badges, Insignia, Orders and Documents been given to me for free. Where am I getting them from? We all know that DPRK items are very much massed produced and demand is very low for most items so people who are not seeing them cheap and plentiful must not be looking in the right place. In the last month I have been turning down offers of Orders by the tens so there still are very many out there to collect if you wish to focus in this field.

In the two years I have been actively collecting DPRK items I have obtained;
1 Title
286 Medals
701 Orders
262 Badges
28 Documents
A Naval Uniform
2 large cardboard boxes of cases
2 Pennants and more random stuff.

As for money, that is something I've never had nor wanted. Nearly all the DPRK items have been bought after I have negotiated the best deal and there are some very good deals to be had when buying in bulk (preferably in the hundreds). Remember nearly all items are offered after middle men have jacked up the prices vastly. There are also more and more DPRK items in the "west" by the week. You may not see them in local shop windows but they are out there.

If DPRK items were either expensive or difficult to find for sale how would I have obtained this in only 2 years?

I certainly stand firmly by my statements that prices are falling and there are ever increasing numbers of DPRK items either in the "west" or available to the "west". Seek and ye shall find!

This group in question came from an EU collector/dealer with dozens of other items and I didn't buy the lion's share of his DPRK items.
