Wonder if it works the same Russian/Soviet way for the (3?) classes or if there are new American rules in play.

I don't know how they'd mount this five sided award next to those new "Made In The U.S.A." American influenced awards.

I have never seen any pictures of Afghan medals "mounted" (except the emirs from the days before time). They just "cluster" in no particular order.

And all the medals I have seen are still pentagonal.

You've seen the "Freedom Medal" on a five sided suspension?

I know we haven't seen one on a chest though.

If it is what you are talking about (thought I had scan of it, but I guess I don't), it isn't official. Invented by Afghanistan to go to US (and maybe other) foreign people only (not to Afghans, why have legend in English?!), but the US rejected it, so the idea was dropped. Some US makers made the medal and got stuck and flog them on e$cam.

That medal is, at best, a fantasy.
