The final badge in this short series is the only republican badge of this type that, I believe, was actually produced. It is the Belorussian "Excellent Worker of Interior Service, MOOP". Aluminum and paint from the Pobeda factory. No document with this one... yet.

I'm putting this badge here because, frankly, I don't know where else to put it. It is for "Excellent Service in the Interior Troops, MOOP" and was given- you guessed it- between 1962 and 1968. Moscow Sports and Military Badge Factory; aluminum and paint. I have seen a photo of this badge with "MVD" in place of "MOOP", but have never actually held one or, for that matter, seen one for sale... must be quite rare.

In 1970, two years after the return of the MVD, the Excellent Worker of the Militia, MVD badge was completely redesigned. From 1970 through 1985, the badge was two-piece aluminum construction with a silver-coloured base. In early 1985, the same two-piece badge was made with a gold-coloured base and, later the same year and from that point through the dissolution of the Soviet Union, a gold-coloured one-piece badge was produced. There was no difference in level between the gold and silver badges. All three versions were produced by the Moscow Sports and Military Badge Factory, but only the first badge here has it's original tightening wheel.

Greg, I have a similar group (imagine:rolleyes:) but without the Belorussian badge. In fact, I don't recall ever seeing one of them for sale in the usual places. More importantly, I have never seen the docs you have. Impressive!:thumbsup

Many thanks, Phil! Always trying to please and entertain ;-). While I actively sought the docs, the Belorussian badge was one of those odd strokes of luck that come so rarely... glad I was able to jump on it.
