Gromov, Boris Ivanovich, Vice-Admiral

2 custom made medals to an Admiral.

Seller's description:

"2 Presentation Medals to Soviet Russian Vice-Admiral Boris Ivanovich Gromov. The first medal was presented to the admiral on his 50th birthday by VNII (All-Soviet Scientific Research Institute) “ALTAIR” in 1980 and comes with a wood presentation box. I am sure ALTAIR was involved in defense research and development. The admiral was probably assigned by the Ministry of Defense to supervise specific project(s) at the Institute. The diameter of the medal is about 3”, it is made of thick heavy metal. The second medal is even bigger and heavier, about 4.6” in diameter. The front is inscribed: To Vice-Admiral Gromov Boris Ivanovich 60 1990. Inscription on the back is a poem and a rough translation is: “This medal is awarded to one who carried a cross of the defender of the country in a difficult field and was a shield for the beloved Motherland!” "
