Awards in wear

This is probably a handy thread to start.

Here's a photo of a band conductor with a nice set of awards. Can anyone identify them? These pictures taken by a friend at some ceremony on Sukhbaatar Square.

Bottom, right-most seems to be a NATO medal:

Re: Awards in wear

I think the bottom left is the NATO Non-Article 5 Medal For Iraq.
Do I need to get my NATO Medals out?

Looks like an Iraq Veteran.

Yes, an Iraq veteran. Wearing the Mongolian mead for foreign service, a flock of quasi-official medals for Iraq (including the Polish one), and the NATO medal for ISAF. Also a number of current badges.

Somewhwre I had had posted a pair (undocumented) and other images of these awards.

Re: Identification of Mongolian Uniform

No expert on Mongolian uniforms, but I would guess that it's just a mongolian equivalent of Soviet gray walking-out uniform for generals.
Btw. I really like this uniform. Luckily I live far away so I will not start collecting them too soon.

Re: Identification of Mongolian Uniform

I don't know what we can take from analysing his awards.
Halhingol Veteran, Border Guard, 50 Years Of State Security, 50 Years Of Militia, Soviet "Friendship", Umalatova and other "organisational" awards of the RF and a modern Mongolian Order. I don't think it's an OG3 but a commemorative.

Looks like he could have been a Border Guard officer liaising with the Soviets. No Victory Over Japan though, so possibly in service with the Red Army for a period in the 1940's?

Didn't the folks creating all of these awards consider how difficult it was going to be for someone in their 90's or 100's carrying 10lbs/5kg of metal on their clothes?

They did and they ivented ribbon bars. But many of those veterans personnaly prefer to wear the awards. You would be surprised what some ninety-year-olds are capable of.
