This is the Information/Queries thread relating to all things Armenian SSR. If you have any questions on the Armenian SSR or unidentified Armenian SSR Orders, Medals, Badges or other items post them here and questions will be answered and items identified before being moved into their own respective threads.

The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic (Հայկական Սովետական
Սոցիալիստական Հանրապետություն) was founded on 2nd December 1920 from the Democratic Republic Of Armenia (Հայաստանի Առաջին Հանրապետութիւն) and became a part of the Transcaucasian Socialist Federative Soviet Republic (Անդրկովկասի Սովետական Սոցիալիստական Ֆեդերատիվ Հանրապետություն) on 12th March 1922. The TSFSR itself became a founding republic of the Union Of Soviet Socialist Republics (Խորհրդային Սոցիալիստական Հանրապետությունների Միություն) on its creation on 30th December 1922. On 5th December 1936 the TSFSR ceased to exist and the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic became a Soviet Republic in its own right.
Yerevan (Երևան) was the capital of the Armenian SSR and was highly industrialised during the Soviet period and was remote enough not to suffer at the hands of invaders during the Great Patriotic War. Even though the Armenian SSR was not physically invaded their contribution to the war effort was very noticeable with Armenians holding ranks in the Red Army from bottom to top.

The Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic was renamed the Republic Of Armenia (Հայաստանի Հանրապետություն) on 23rd August 1990 and declared independence from the Soviet Union on 21st September 1991. The constitution of the Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic remained in place until 5th July 1995.

Here we have;

#1 Flag from 2nd February 1922 to 12th March 1922.
#2 Flag from 5th December 1936 to 28th September 1940
#3 Flag from 28th September 1940 to 17th December 1952
#4 Flag from 17th December 1952 to 24th August 1990
#5 Flag from 24th August 1990

Re: Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Information/Queries Thread.

Hi CtahhR,

The bottom color of the flag for today's Armenia is more orange than yellow. It's true that all tones of colours can be found on our screen...

Cheers.

Ch.

Re: Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Information/Queries Thread.

The flag of the 24th August 1990 does not have exactly defined colouring so you can get a great deal of variation. Here are 3 different colours.

True.
The web site Yeraguyn.com provides the following color guidance (see bottom of page, with Pantone references):

Re: Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Information/Queries Thread.

The guidelines in the link are for the post-Soviet Republic Of Armenia (dated 2006) and not for the Republic Of The Soviet Union.

This section is for Republics Of The Soviet Union (Prior to 26th December 1991).

Re: Armenian Soviet Socialist Republic Information/Queries Thread.

Yes, I noticed.
And that's also why I posted about the present Belarus flag as well, in the wrong section (post deleted by you since)... :(
OK, I let you manage all this... I don't want people to get lost more than I myself am.. :D
Cheers.
