I just love these 30ties badges and even more so these para badges.
So hard to find. I believe this is an unrecorded version. I have jumped on Russian Parachutes and from a vintage 40ties plane which makes me feel closer to this badge. It has a number.. a little unclear on the scan but is 20803 Chris Last edited by CtahhR; 04-25-2013 at 10:36 PM. |

Ron,
I can't say anything about the 1935 issues - excellent fakes exist, and I will most likely not be able to tell them from scans. 1968 variations are also being fakes, but so far I have only seen aluminum copies with cold enamel. Alexei |

Parachute badges
I got 5 of these today. I'm just a beginner when it comes to para badges but I don't see any overt signs of fakeness.
If anyone can comment on specific criteria for the awarding of these individually, and the possible era I'd be in your debt. :thumbsup And so, on with the para-show.....:) Para badge 1: The plane is part of the badge.

Re: Parachute badges
And here is badge 2:
The canopy reads: ПАРАШЮТИСТ ОТЛИЧНИК - THE PARACHUTIST THE HONOURS PUPIL The number "10" is a seperate piece while the plane is part of the badge.

Re: Parachute badges
And the third:
The canopy reads: ИНСТРУКТОР ПАРАШЮТИСТ - THE INSTRUCTOR THE PARACHUTIST Both the "100" and the plane are seperate pieces.

Re: Parachute badges
Number four:
The "400" and the plane are seperate pieces.

Re: Parachute badges
5 in the series:
In this case both the number and the plane are part of the badge, not seperate

Re: Parachute badges
Two more questions;
I've noticed these badges have either one or two suspension loops on the bottom for the pendant indicating the number of jumps; does that indicate age at all? And does the shape of the parachute canopy (either round or angular) indicate age or anything else?

Re: Parachute badges
Eric,
I like your badges. All look okay to me. I think the badges with the round white parachute were awarded from 1955-1968. And the badges with angular parachute were awarded from 1968 to 1991. best regards Andreas |
