Partisan Flag-from German flag!

I thought this was a really neat item; its a German war flag that has been captured, had the German insignia removed and replaced with hand made 'Soviet' insignia. It was used by patisans in the Ukraine. Just came out of a small museum. I thought people would like to see it.

Doug, neat! I'm not real familiar with German flags, but what was the basis of this flag, i.e. a regimental banner, aerial recognition flag?

Hi Paul,

Its from a regular German war flag; if they used a real German Regt. flag I would have cried!! These war fags were pretty common ( a great uncle brought one back that my father had when i was a kid) and so they just had to remove the insignia that had been threaded on.

Doug, Can you see the outline of the German insignia after it was removed? I think it looks great; if I were a flag guy that would be a great varient to have. Hey dont you collect flags and banners!! Ty Clete

No, they removed all the stitching; i can see little bits here and there though. Wish I was keeping it,but i think i'll just play with it for a week or so and then list it. I can't go keeping all the cool stuff, i'd be broke by Thanksgiving.

The shade! It should be brighter red, not this type of carmine.
