Guys,
I found this pic taken on 1st of May 1936 on a site that is titled the Khasan Conflict.
Isn't that Spanish on the Flags in the background?

Eddie.

workers of the world...

I think that in the 1920's and 1930's when the soviets still dreamed of world revolution they often had the "workers of the world unite" quote in almost every possible language they could think of, to show the true internationalisim of their appeal.

Thank you Doug,

This is a pic of the 1st Moscow Proletarian Rifle Division on parade.
But what is a Spanish Flag doing in an article about the Khasan Conflict?
I think they must have got this one mixed up. It seems more likely that this pic has somthing to do with the Spanish civil War. What do you think?

Eddie.

The other flag on the photo seems to be in english ("...UNITE"). It doesn't necesarly have to have anything to do with the Spanish Civil War.

Hi Al,

No, I think you are most likely right there are probably more banners with different languages along the wall on the photo.
At first sight it just seemed a bit odd.

It is like that. Since the first years of the USSR they have put the marxist slogan in various languages, in propaganda posters, books, documents and RSFSR banknotes(Arabic, french, portuguese, chinese, german and others).
