Chief marshal of aviation

This one is on eBay, I find it rather interesting. Do you guys have any comments? It is from Ukraine, yes... Comes with cap and trousers. Priced about 200 Usd.

You can see the image in sovvisor's post below.

Sovvisor, thanks for posting the pics. Taking into consideration what the seller have sold earlier (for example, a "marshal SSSR walk-out uniform" made from a generals uniform with changed shoulderboards) it is not impossible this one is new as well. Any other thoughts?

That last one was very nice! Gives inspiration for a shopping run! =)

Badge on left side

What is the name of the badge on the left side, the wing shaped one? Seem to be cloth made?

Please see post in WANTED section (I want a such one)

it´s fighter pilot

The badge is made of goldbullion with red star made of cotton thread. It´s stictched
on to a shaped piece of cloth in the same color as the uniform.

Humor me. What is wrong with the first uniform except that it has no ribbons or badges? Both styles of laurel leaves on the lapels were used right up until the end of the USSR, right? There may be non-visible holes on the right breast for screw on badges. It would seem to be perfect for decorating with the correct ribbons and badges for display (not to be then sold as authentic). Museums do that all the time.

The old style wings on the second uniform also come in a metal pin-back version, but the soft ones pictured are by far the rarest.

Na Zapad!

those wings....

The embroidered wings are not as rare as one would think. They were first used in 1940, changed in design (and location) through the 1950's, and then replaced with metal in the 1960's. On older air force uniforms the cloth wings are pretty common.

The uniform is not wrong for displays, but most collectors are not looking for mock ups for display purposes. If they buy an Air Marshal or such they want to know it atually belonged to a real air marshal and not some clerk in a storage facility in Kiev who sewed some boards to an unused tunic. The later is much more common. Just because it follows regs does not mean its real, in the collectors sense.

So, we are not saying its fake, we are saying its a mock up.

When did the shoulderboards on these service uniforms change from golden to the dark-green type? The two uniforms seem to differ mainly on this aspect, the Vershinin M/54 has golden boards and the "who knows when it is made" :) uniform has green ones.

Are there any other differences in the design between these models?

It would appear that the colour of general officers shoulder boards for the service tunic changed form gold to kahki between 1958 and 1959.
Certainly the had been worn in this colour in the field as detachable shoulder boards on the Gymnastoirka. In the regulations for 1958 there is a picture of an general officer wearing these shoulder boards on a service tunic and also in the 1959 regulations as well.
