My Moisin Nagant

Doug, You asked about the rifle...It's my Moisin Nagant 1940 era. I've had it for quite a while. I just didn't have a decent camera to take good pics. New credit card=New camera and thus these pictures. It came complete with Bayonet, Shoulder Strap, Cleaning kit tools and three packs of surplus ammo but no stripper clips.

Doc, beautifully preserved rifle.:thumbsup Since you have ammo (7.62x54?) then I presume it is in firing condition. Some states won't allow people to own rifles (especially with bayonets) unless they are collector's models that can't be fired. Thankfully, I live in a state where you can own anything (for now;)). Most gun collectors know that the Moisin Nagant bolt system was a direct copy of the Mauser and works just as well even with the straight lever. The wood also seems in remarkable shape. Nice one.:D

A fun gun to shoot. Draws attention at the range when you fire off this cannon and the ammo is cheap and available. (I have 4 in different variations).

Thanks Guys!!! It's fully functional. I haven't fired it yet but, I will soon. In Texas Guns rule!!!

Nice pics of a great rifle

I've got a model 44 version and I think I have better accuracy at ranges of 200-300 yards than my more refined K98 Mauser. Over open sites of course.

One of my hunting buddies has a 189X Sestoretsk issue with a serial number under 2XXX. I've begged him to retire it and preserve it as a collectible, but he still uses is for deer and wild boar hunting. I must say, it's one solid rifle.
