It's written in the "new" Mongolian!

Eddie,
Actually your doc seems to be issued in 1932, (25-7-1932, SN 865?, see left hand bottom corner). Are you sure this is a Khalkhin Gol doc? If it is from 1932, this limits the number of possible awards it might belong to. 1) Order for Military Valor 2) Order for Civil Valor 3) ? First type of the "Distiguished Employee of the State Security Services"? 4) ? First type of the "Distiguished Herdsman of the MPR" ? 5) Another (so far) unidentified badge PS: 3 & 4 are, according to Herfurth, founded at the end of the 30's Jan |

Hi Jan,
No I'm not sure if this is a Khalkhin Gol doc or not, it was being sold as one though, together with the badge. If that is the date it can't be the correct one though obviously. Would the date and Serial number be hand written on the award document? Eddie.

Yes, date and number would be handwritten. You will notice on the doc in cyrillic alphabet, that I posted, that in the top righthand corner, there are a space for the date and number. In this case it is not filled out. The words however correspond, with what I have found on other docs to be the date and number.
I noticed now, that in both docs the printed number 29 is present, so maybe there might be a similarity. Um, the plot thickens, dear Watson. By the way, how much did they ask for the badge+doc? Jan |

Thanks Jan that's very interesting. ;)
To be honest I'm not sure how much the asking price was. If I remember correctly it was on a Homepage were you had to inquire about the price if you was showing an interest in the item. I can't really make head or tale of the doc I posted, if it was upside down I probably wouldn't notice ;) But I would certainly take your word for it if you think it is an incorrect doc. I see what you mean about the 29 it's on both. Eddie.
