Re: Serial numbers of some Soviet awards to Mongolians
The famous photo of a well-bedecked Tsedenbal with his well-upolstered Russian wife.
I have been told that his awards are with his family in Russia. |

Order of the Red Star awarded B. Lamjav on April 23, 1943. On the same day and the same decree with Minister Shagdarjav.
Serial numbers, however, have some significant gaps. Here is the scan of the Order's reverse with the corresponding serial number. Now, more about the recipient of this order. Badrah Lamjav was born in Huhmorit county of Gobi-Altai province in 1909. He graduated from the Finance school of Ulaanbaatar in 1929. From 1952-1955, Comrade Lamjav studied at the Party Higher School. Comrade B. Lamjav worked for the Tuv province and later Ulaanbaatar city Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party (MPRP) organizations. Lamjav was drafted into Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party from 1932-1934. From 1934-1941, comrade Lamjav served as junior officer and officer at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. During this period, he also headed a Division of the Ministry. From 1941-1951, he worked as the Deputy Premier of the Mongolian People’s Republic. From 1951-1952, Lamjav headed the Central Union of the Cooperatives. From 1955-1956, he was the Director of the Employment Agency. Lamjav was appointed as the Mayor of Ulaanbaatar in 1956. In 1957, Lamjav headed the Department of the Technical and Equipment Support. A year later, he was appointed as the Trade Representative at the Mongolian Embassy in the People’s Republic of China. From 1958-1960, he worked at the Services Department of the Cabinet of the MPR. From 1960-1969, comrade Lamjav headed a Division at the Meat Factory. B. Lamjav was a member of the Small Khural and later a member of the People’s Great Khural of the MPR. He was also a member of the Central Committee of the MPR and Central Council of the Mongolian Trade Union. B. Lamjav was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor Valor two times, the Order of the Polar Star and the medals. He was also awarded the Order of the Red Star of the Soviet Union. Page 49. His picture from the same book.
In the picture below, you will find B.Lamjav seated far right (from the viewer) next to Minister of Internal Affairs B. Shagdarjav. His Order of Industrial Valor and the Order of the Red Star are visible on this photo. The photo was taken on March 23, 1943 in Moscow, USSR. Then Deputy Prime Minister Lamjav was one of the delegates to deliver the goods of the Mongolian People donated to the Soviet Army. The photo is taken from Memoirs of President of the MPR J. Sambuu published in 1970. Last edited by CtahhR; 09-01-2014 at 05:38 AM. |
